Elizabeth, I think you had some very good questions. We share some of the same questions. I too wonder if technology is taking away human creativity. I can understand why you wonder if it is ever going to take away teaching. I feel like we are always going to be teaching, but I think technology is going to change the way we teach more.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions Liz! I hope technology does not take over teaching in the classroom. Some students need to be able to go to school and have that interaction with the teacher.
ReplyDeleteI think technology is a great thing to use. It can facilitate learning. I do think that it is ideal to use in education. There are so many resources that can be used. Your last question is to think about. WIth so much technology, sometimes we don't have creativity. Instead, sometimes we look up ideas to use.
ReplyDeleteI think about using technology compared to old fashion learning all the time. I do believe that kids need to be prepared for the new world we are raising them for, BUT I think it is essential to keep somethings old fashion. This will hault the question about teachers being in the classroom or not. If we teach things in a way technology could never teach a student, we are guaranteeing our position as in class teachers. I absolutely know that technology has done some amazing things for teaching. I also know there are things kids need to learn that a device could NEVER teach them. There is a say by ALbert Einstien that says "Life is like riding a bike. To keep your balance you must keep moving forward." This is what I think when I see your question about weather or not we ever stop leaning. I think as long as we are living we are leaning. We must keep moving with the times to keep up.
ReplyDeleteI too see an issue with potential dangers of technology in schools. There has already arisen dangers from the use of technology, and all that can be done to remedy these issues is to try and prevent further repeats. I don't think that technology could ever completely steal human creativity because there are so many programs out there that require the creativity of the human mind to create. Every technological advancement was "created" by a human.
ReplyDeleteyour questions have the theme--the purpose of using the technology either in our life or school, Elizabeth and I love them!
